Updated info for severe weather threat for tonight into early Saturday (April 6th through early April 7th, 2018) (1)

Posted as of 9:00 p.m. on 4/6/2018 – According to the National Weather Service (NWS) Weather Forecast Office in Birmingham, the southern portions of Elmore County are included in the area for a Marginal risk of severe weather.  At this time, the most likely timeframe Elmore County may see severe weather is between 3 AM and 9 AM. There is a small chance of a few storms that could cause damaging winds to occur and a small brief tornado cannot be completely ruled out.

This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for the counties served by the
National Weather Service office in Birmingham.

.DAY ONE…Today and Tonight.

There is a low confidence threat for severe storms tonight. The
threat area is generally along and south of a line from Geiger, to
Wetumpka, to Fort Mitchell. The main threat is damaging straight line
winds, but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out along and south of a
line from Livingston to Selma to Hayneville.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN…Saturday through Thursday.

There is a low confidence threat for severe storms through 9 AM
Saturday for areas south of Wetumpka to Fort Mitchell line and west
of Interstate 65. The main threat is damaging straight line winds,
but a brief tornado cannot be ruled out.

Another round of cold weather Saturday night into Sunday morning.
Near or below freezing temperatures are possible across the northern
one third of Central Alabama.

.SPOTTER INFORMATION STATEMENT…

Activation of storm spotters and emergency management may be needed
tonight and Saturday morning.
