Elmore County has been placed under a Slight risk for severe weather on Saturday, April 25th by the NWS Storm Prediction Center. According to the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Birmingham, all of Central Alabama will have a chance for severe weather as a frontal system moves through the State. There will be 2 rounds of weather that may produce showers and thunderstorms. The first round will be tonight after midnight and the second round may develop tomorrow afternoon from noon to 8:00 p.m. Tonight isolated strong storms and heavy rainfall will be possible. The severity of the second round tomorrow afternoon will largely depend on the amount of clearing and how much warming we get during the afternoon hours. Should we remain cloudy and overcast the severity for thunderstorm activity should be less. According to the NWS there is a fair amount of uncertainty in the forecast for our area with regards to timing and intensity of storm activity tomorrow.
Below is a graphic provided by the NWS showing severe weather possible and the possible timing.
We will be monitoring this weather system and will follow up with additional information if any major changes in the forecast.
