Posted at 10:35 a.m. – The Storm Prediction Center has Elmore County under a slight risk for severe weather for Thursday, March 31. According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, there is a risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday across all of central Alabama. The thunderstorms may come in several waves. The greatest time frame for severe weather for Elmore County is during the mid to late morning hours and then again tomorrow late afternoon into tomorrow night. All modes of severe weather are possible including damaging winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Flash flooding may also be an issue in isolated areas as 2 to 4 inches of rainfall is forecasted area wide. Below is a graphic provided by the NWS office in Birmingham that depicts the threat area, timing and type of hazards we could see in central Alabama.
