Issued at 12:30 p.m. 2-23-16 – The NWS Storm Prediction Center has updated the Moderate Risk area to take in the entire southern half of the state. Also, the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Birmingham has issued a slight update to the severe weather timing for the weather event. Below is a graphic from the NWS Office in Birmingham that outlines the threats associated with the weather expected this evening and tonight along with the severe weather timing. Also below is the updated graphic from the Storm Prediction Center and the Public Severe Weather Outlook that they issued earlier today.
This is a serious severe weather threat and we encourage everyone to review their severe weather plans and be ready to implement them.
A Wind Advisory for Elmore County is in effect from 3:00 p.m. this afternoon through 9:00 p.m. Wednesday night. Strong gusty winds not associated with thunderstorms will also be possible this afternoon through tomorrow. Winds will be 20 to 30 mph with gust of 35 to 40 mph will be possible.
