Currently the National Weather Service (NWS) Storm Prediction Center has Elmore County in a Slight Risk area for severe weather for tomorrow, January 2, 2017.
According to the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Birmingham a limited risk for severe thunderstorms is possible for Monday from around 12 PM to 9 PM across the southern half of Central Alabama, generally along and south of a Geiger to Clanton to Lafayette line. The main threats that will be possible are brief tornadoes and damaging winds up to 60 MPH. Below is a graphic issued by the NWS Weather Forecast Office in Birmingham that details the type and timing of the potential severe weather impacts for Elmore County. There is fair amount of uncertainty in the forecast with regards to how far north the severe threat may from the gulf. The timing of these threats may change some so stay tuned to the latest weather information and monitor the weather conditions closely.
