FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR ALABAMA
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE BIRMINGHAM AL
403 AM CDT FRI OCT 7 2016
.DISCUSSION…
DRY WEATHER CONTINUES TO DOMINATE THE FORECAST THROUGH THE
PERIOD, WITH THE PASSAGE OF TWO DRY FRONTS, WHICH WILL ONLY
REINFORCE DRY CONDITIONS ACROSS THE REGION. THE FIRST OF THESE
FRONTS WILL MOVE INTO THE AREA THIS WEEKEND, BUT WITH NO
ANTICIPATED RAINFALL, IT WILL NOT PROVIDE ANY RELIEF TO DRY
SOILS/FUELS. THE SECOND FRONT WILL PUSH SOUTHWARD LATE IN THE
FORECAST PERIOD, WED/THU OF NEXT WEEK.
AFTERNOON RELATIVE HUMIDITY VALUES WILL LARGELY BE IN THE 30S
MUCH OF THE PERIOD, WITH MID/UPPER 20S POSSIBLE IN THE SUN/MON
TIME FRAME. WINDS WILL SHIFT FROM THE NORTHEAST TO NORTH TODAY AND
INCREASE IN RESPONSE TO A TIGHTENING PRESSURE GRADIENT. WINDS WILL
REMAIN ELEVATED THROUGH SATURDAY NIGHT, AFTER WHICH A SHIFT TO THE
NORTHEAST AND EAST IS EXPECTED. THE COMBINATION OF LOWER RELATIVE
HUMIDITY VALUES AND INCREASED WIND SPEEDS MAY RESULT IN MEETING
CRITICAL FIRE DANGER THRESHOLDS SATURDAY THROUGH MONDAY.
