Posted at 9:15 a.m. – The Storm Prediction Center has Elmore County under a slight risk for severe weather for Thursday, March 22. According to the National Weather Service in Birmingham, there is a risk for severe thunderstorms on Thursday across all of central Alabama, mainly in the afternoon and early evening. All modes of severe weather are possible including damaging straight line winds, large hail, and isolated tornadoes. Below is a graphic provided by the NWS office in Birmingham that depicts the threat area, timing and type of hazards we could see in central Alabama. The forecast may be updated some, so watch for changes. We will send an update out tomorrow.
