Happening Now: CSX Has Temporarily Opened Prattville Junction Rd; Rodgers Drive Remains Closed; More Closings In the A.M.

1:54:31 PM  CSX has provided the Elmore County EMA with the latest information regarding the rail crossings maintenance schedule:

Prattville Junction Road (City of Millbrook) has been temporarily re-opened with a gravel drive for this evening and overnight access. Work will be resumed in the morning on this crossing.

Rodgers Drive (City of Millbrook) is CLOSED and will remain closed until work is completed sometime tomorrow.

Coosada Road (Town of Coosada) will be closed sometime between 7:30 and 8:00 A.M. so that work can begin on the rail crossing.

Elmore County EMA will continue to update their webpage with these road closures and re-openings as CSX provides the updates.

Again, if you or someone you know is affected by these road closures, please check back frequently for the latest status until this scheduled maintenance work is completed.

Happening Now: CSX Has Closed Prattville Junction Rd and Will Close Rodgers Drive Within The Hour

08:30:30  CSX has notified the Elmore County EMA that they have closed Prattville Junction Rd (City of Millbrook) for the day and are planning to close Rodgers Drive (City of Millbrook) within the next hour for scheduled maintenance. These closures are according to information released on Friday, March 3, 2017, in a News Release to all local media outlets from EMA and as posted on the Elmore County EMA webpage.

CSX representatives have ensured they will contact EMA as roads are reopened and closed as part of this scheduled maintenance plan. EMA will ensure all Dispatch Offices and Emergency Medical Services are kept abreast of these changes.

The following road crossings will be closed starting Monday, March 6, 2017. Each road crossings will be closed for 2 to 4 days at a time. The work will begin at 6:00 a.m. and end at 5:00 p.m. daily, Monday – Thursday. At night the crossings will be temporarily open for resident access only. The schedule is as follows:

1 Mar 2017 Severe Weather Likely (6-10PM Tonight)

03/01/2017  11:56:05  The National Weather Service (NWS), Weather Forecast Office, Birmingham continues to hold Elmore County under a “Limited Threat” for the potential of severe weather for today, March 1, 2017. The graphic below shows the greatest threats for Elmore County are damaging winds up to 60 mph and quarter size hail. As of right now, severe weather is expected to enter our area around 6 PM tonight and be through the area by 10 PM. Please remain weather aware on this first day of March 2017, have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts and notifications, and be prepared to activate your severe weather plans should the need arise. Remember:  It does not matter if winds are blowing in a straight line or are blowing in circles (tornadic) when they are in excess of 60 mph! Your safety/action steps for a Severe Thunderstorm Warning should be the same as for a Tornado Warning! Outdoor Warning Siren System Test on Mar 1, 2017 Postponed Due to Inclement Weather

02/28/2017 3:41:20 PM  Please be advised that the Elmore County EMA will postpone the monthly test of the All-Hazards Outdoor Warning Siren System, scheduled for March 1, 2017 (first Wednesday of the month), due to the possibility of severe weather late tomorrow afternoon into the evening hours. No sirens will be tested tomorrow in Elmore County. The next test of the All-Hazards Outdoor Warning Siren System is scheduled for March 8, 2017.
